Ellen Stamps |
|||||||||||||||||||
| Ellen de Kroon Stamps,
Dutch born, received her RN from the Academic Hospital of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Ellen has used her nursing degree across the world: delivering babies in Austria, offering professional care to the elderly at a retirement facility in England and working in an AIDS clinic in Minnesota. She had imagined that the mission field would be her destiny, but God had different plans! In 1967 Ellen was asked by Corrie ten Boom--author of The Hiding Place--to become her nurse, secretary and traveling companion. She has written an account of their life and travels together: My Years With Corrie, published in 1978. After serving with ten Boom for more than 8 years, Ellen met Bob Stamps. She fell in love with Bob but also with his ministry as chaplain to the students of Oral Roberts University. They married in August of 1976 and Ellen promptly became the defacto women's chaplain of the university. For over 30 years Ellen and Bob have served the Lord together. She speaks often in schools, churches, women's groups, children's camps and at retreats of all kinds. She is presently an Elder at Third Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA. Over the past year Ellen has learned more about her shepherding vocation in the church, serving on the Mission Committee and as one of the directors of prayer ministry...this year, prayer for Africa! She has recently concluded helping to organize Mosaic, a Buddy System for special needs children in the church. Every Wednesday afternoon, Ellen can be found in the Richmond city jail where she teaches the Bible to women inmates. During the week she helps those who are released find their places again in society. Ellen and Bob are parents of two grown children. She loves to swim, dance, and to listen to great music. Most of all, she relishes spending time with Bob every day and with their son and daughter as often as possible. |

Jenny's areas of involvement in CFO have been as a camper, children's leader, youth leader, speaker, worship leader, rhythms leader, chair-person, prayer group leader, and council ring member.
